Hello, and welcome. I’m Jen, a compassionate Art Psychotherapist, EMDR Therapist, Teacher and the founder of The Walnut Barn. With over 17 years of experience supporting individuals impacted by trauma, loss, and learning differences, I bring a wealth of knowledge to my practice. My mission is to provide you with a safe, supportive space where you can explore and express your experiences, while navigating life’s challenges.
At The Walnut Barn, you’ll find a warm and understanding atmosphere built on compassion, creativity, and professional mental health expertise. I offer a unique blend of Art Therapy, EMDR, and nature-based wellbeing. My approach is deeply rooted in trauma-informed practices, incorporating bilateral stimulation and stabilization techniques to support healing and growth. I am passionate about creating a supportive environment and non-discriminatory care which accepts and values your unique perspective.
Qualifications and Professional Registration:
- Masters Degree in Art Psychotherapy, with distinction
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Qualified EMDR Therapist
- Full member with the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT)
- BA honours Degree in Early Childhood Studied
- Qualified Teacher Status
- Health Professional Insurance








My Approach
My approach is client-centered, meaning you are at the heart of everything I do. I believe in empowering you to direct your own therapeutic journey, focusing on what’s important to you, and enhancing your well-being. I use a variety of therapeutic techniques, such as art-making, EMDR, sensorimotor techniques, environmental arts therapy, and the PACE model (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy) to build safe and meaningful connections.

Therapy Settings & Experience
I deliver therapy in diverse settings, including at my therapy studio, schools, homes, outdoors and on virtual platforms. My previous work with the NHS, as well as my extensive experience in education, has shaped my ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and provide client-centered care. I bring a solid understanding of child development and attachment to my work with families and children. I am committed to safeguarding and remain up-to-date with key legislation and policies to ensure the safety and well-being of all those I work with.
In my previous role as a Senior Psychological Therapist and Accessibility Lead at St. Peter’s Hospice, I gained invaluable experience supporting families facing palliative diagnoses and bereavement. I had the privilege of supporting people in 1:1 therapy, developing therapeutic groups, advancing services for individuals with learning disabilities, developing training and introducing trauma-informed practices.
